Harper Adams Weston Building
No matter how big or small the project is our expertise and enthusiasm will ensure we exceed your expectation.
We are MHA Architects
MHA were appointed by Harper Adams University to deliver high quality teaching facilities in a landmark building. The scheme included a 262 seat lecture theatre, a range of seminar rooms, I.T. teaching rooms and a learning commons area with direct links into the adjacent Regional Food Academy and Post-Graduate Centre previously delivered by MHA Architects.
The new building formed a fourth side to complete a courtyard of accommodation blocks. The visual mass of the building was maintained in line with adjacent built context whilst maximising accommodation through a strategy of developing habitable roofspace, with dormer window and rooflight features.
The building draws its power from Harper Adams' Anaerobic Digester and its heat from the campus Biomass Boiler. A rainwater drainage attenuation system was provided below ground to reduce rainwater run-off to the local brook, these rates are lower than those which existed prior to construction.
