We were appointed by Medicines Evaluation Unit to design a new clinical research unit on the Wythenshawe Hospital site.
The facility includes consulting rooms, 3 six-bed wards, a volunteer lounge, laboratories, an aseptic pharmacy suite, a bronchoscopy suite, admin offices and seminar rooms.
The main challenge of this project was to respond to the technical demands of the clinical areas whilst generating a value for money building that offers volunteers a home-from-home for the duration of their stay.
The project was so successful that we were subsequently appointed to design a £1.8m extension to adjoin the existing Medicines Evaluation Unit’s Langley Building. This development incorporates a clinical research facility, 3 consulting rooms, clinical suite, challenge laboratory and external car park for staff and visitors.
