We are MHA Architects

MHA Architects were appointed on a number of projects at the school, including a new state of the art science block, comprising 4 general science labs, sixth form teaching lab, office and stores all on a constrained site. The challenge when working on the new mathematics building was to design a building which would knit together the disparate styles of the original building.

When designing the school’s first Food Technology Classroom, originally proposed to be built above the existing ground floor Art classroom, it was evident that by building above, the Art Room would be robbed of its natural light and would become unsuitable for its purpose. We therefore proposed demolishing the existing Art Room and replacing it with a new two-storey building. This enabled us to open the space up into the roof space creating a more light and airy space.

We were also appointed to design a new sports facilities building comprising four-court sports hall, second activity hall, multi-use space, fitness gym, changing rooms, teaching space and ancillary. The scheme also incorporated a full size artificial pitch for both football and hockey, four new tennis courts, car parking for 90 cars, the extension of the existing playgrounds and the re-organisation of the existing sports pitches.
